I'm wondering how much spending money to have with me for these places, or if i should wait til I'm there. (August 4) I was thnking that it might be good to have abotu $150 for each place, and get more later if needed. Anyone know if credit card are widely accepted? I did a tour of Croatia last year, and got stuck for cash when restaurants didn't take credit cards.

Of course it is hard to advise on money, because some spend much more than others. If you are taking one of two tours I think you are, you will be in each city only two days, and with one tour three days in one city. $150 worth of each local currency sounds like too much to me. You don't want to get stuck with Czech or Hungarian currency especially. It could be hard to get rid of later. You can use Euros sometimes in all of your cities, but you will likely lose in the exchange rate they use, which may severely under value your money. It is always best to use local currency.

With few exceptions, you should be able to use credit cards for all but the smallest purchases. I have never had a problem in any of the cities you are visiting. There are many ATM machines in all of them when you need cash.

The best ploy is to use a credit card that has no foreign fees (my Merrill-Lynch card fills that bill) and an ATM card with small fees. My credit union card charges only 75 cents per transaction. You will usually pay about $3 equivalent each time to the owner of the ATM, so try to get enough that you don't have to go back to the well.

If you plan ahead, you will get enough currency to tip your tour manager and driver.
