I'm signed up and booked for 2 of these this year. Tanzania Safari and 17 day China and Tibet. I am hoping it will be worth the extra money I have spent to have smaller groups. I am unable to tolerate the 45 person bus with no extra room. I have had several of those trips, not just with G1. Not very comfortable.
I love the new luxury tours. If I could afford them I would take that, but alas, I can't..

Sharon, you will really enjoy the China Discovery trip. When we did this tour in 2013, it was a "regular" tour. The new tour is a day longer and includes Chengdu (which we did not visit) and a ride on the bullet train. The hotels we had were great for the most part, and yours will be even better. The one exception is the hotel in Lhasa, which is ALSO used on your tour. Nice hotel, but in May it was warm outside but the building was still cold soaked from the winter, and the heat was NOT on. They brought us an old Soviet made room heater, but it was not powerful enough to do much good. Slept in clothes like you did in Mexico. I got a partial refund from G 1 for that room, it was so uncomfortable.

Having a full bus actually does not bother me. What DOES bother me is if my seat is not comfortable. Our bus recently in India was only about 3/4 full, but the individual seats were exceedingly uncomfortable. The padding was maybe 3/4 inch thick over a hard surface, and the leg room was even more cramped than on a typical jet. The bus was about 3/4 the size of a proper European tour bus, but it still had at least 40 seats plus a large walled-off driver compartment (which we noted was not air conditioned - poor driver and helper.) Do the math.

Modern European tour buses are now appearing in India - saw some new Volvo units that looked great being used by another tour company. I gave G 1 a poor rating on the bus choice (everything else was just super) and suggested they need to start looking for a new bus contractor there.

Oddly, they did body work and repaint of a large part of our bus one night while we were sleeping. They do try with what they have, but these buses that are probably 20 - 25 years old just are not good enough now.

Sounds like our bus in Guatemala, that was uncomfortable, but I loved the trip so I guess it balances out. I think overall the Latin American buses have it down over any I've seen, at least the ones in SA, they know how to travel in buses! The one we had in Mexico was probably the best bus I've had, except for maybe that bus from Cusco to Puno, the double decker with captains chairs.
IMO, the back seat should never be filled, many ppl get motion sick and thats a horrible location unless you really want to be there.

Hello travelers! We plan in August to go on a trip to USA. And as always, it does not do without "but". We assume that huddling in the 5th in one car may not be comfortable and along the way we will use the rental of an additional car. I studied the forums and faced a situation where people had problems with renting a car in USA. As far as is known, some companies are denied a lease with a Russian-style driver's license for the lack of information about the driver in case of a state of emergency. I rummaged through the Internet, I found quite a lot of offers of services for the "translation of a driver's license or an issue of international standard." I would like to clarify this issue in more detail. At the moment, the choice fell on the company https://iaalicense.com - I would like to know, maybe someone used their services? Or owns in more detail in general this issue? The price tag is not great, for safety I will turn to them, I will write by the results, but I would also like to hear experienced travelers. What do you think?
