Does anyone have any information as to if obtaining a visa prior to arriving to Jordan is necessary? My husband and I are doing the 15 day Dubai and Jordan trip. I am aware that a visa is required for Jordan, however, the Gate 1 website states that a Visa is necessary but then goes on to say that no Visa is necessary if you are spending two or more nights in Jordan and all Gate 1 transportation and transfers are provided. Just wondering for those of you who have done this trip in the past have any advice or suggestions or comments on this.
Thanks
Dana

Hi DDobosz - If the transfers are booked through Gate 1 for the Jordan portion then the visa is included and you will receive it upon arrival. If you could private message back to this message with your booking number, we can double check to make sure that you have all accurate information for your tour.

We did this tour last year, and can confirm that we never did have to pay for a visa.  We were told, however, that we would have to pay at the airport when we left.  The guide said the Jordan officials at the border said it would take too long to process, so we could wait.  We saved JD money to pay, but they never collected at the airport.  We surmised that G 1 qualified as a certified Jordan tour provider, which waives the fee?  The description of the tour on the Gate 1 page still says visa is required, and directs you to info on how much it will cost.  This should be ammended if it is truly always included, or show under which conditions it is not (depends on transfer inclusion?)

Randy, read this - they are not charging Visa fees anymore to increase tourism.  That is why we didn't have to pay!

Thanks Donna.  This helps clear up the confusion on the visa fees for large groups, which apparently has been waived for some time now.  Sounds like the whole situation will be clearer this fall, when most all travelers who spend a couple of nights in Jordan will not have to pay.  It looks like those taking the Petra option on one of the Israel tours  will still have to pay a fee at the border.  Perhaps they would do well to waive this one as well, as the Petra option is expensive when doing the Israel tours that do not overnight in Jordan.

We look forward to your evaluation of the Morocco tour this fall.  We are going to do the Kasbahs and Deserts version next May.  Our local travel buddies agreed to go with us last week after consuming a substantial quantity of wine!

Our friends have done a half dozen or so Gate 1 trips with us.   They are good travel companions.  We in fact booked the Kasbahs tour this afternoon for May.  It was featured on the "Deal" this week, and the adder for our airport vs. JFK is very reasonable right now.

Bumping this thread.

Any updates about gettting the visa in Jordan?

On the G1 website it says the visa is included. I've called and emailed G1, and getting different answers.

On the US embassy website, they say its possible to purchase it upon arrival @ airport. I'm heading to Jordan in May 2017. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The Gate 1 site under the visa summary is correct. There will be no fee for you. I did Israel and Jordan tour, and there was no charge. Jordan has become even less restrictive on who pays, nights required, etc. since we went.
