Exciting news. We'll watch to see how the prices match up to Viking and the other players in those markets (which have to be approaching saturation with all the boats out there and the new ones being built).

Excellent venture! Are there plans to address the single supplement for this ship?
Norwegian started about two years ago with single supplement free sailing on select cruises. Gate 1 is a great company and my first option when planning my trips, I would like to see better attempts at tackling the cost of single supplement to solo travelers!!!

Please lead the way and Put an End to the Travel Industry's discrimination against solo travelers!!!

Got the river cruise brochure a couple of weeks ago and appears G1 pricing for the new ship is right up there in pricing with the outfits that are branding themselves as Luxe. Too bad, would have been nice to have had a more affordable river cruise option now that you have your own ship.

I was also just looking at prices. We have been on two gate 1 tours and loved them. However was looking at river cruise and prices look very close to Viking because their air fare prices are so good. They people who traveled gate 1 with us were great to be around in both Costa Rica and China and the tour guides were very good ! Costa Rica was a full house with 40 people and China we only had 17. We will travel Gate 1 again.1a626b66-0160-48ea-b888-4e7b63cefe34.jpg98a1e139-e4cd-4e4a-accf-0a7ce71853e8.jpg1a626b66-0160-48ea-b888-4e7b63cefe34.jpg98a1e139-e4cd-4e4a-accf-0a7ce71853e8.jpg
::bashful::Leaving soon on the 10 day Costa Rica with Manuel Antonio ! Anyone last minute recommendations? I see rain chances everyday but low rain fall amounts? Are the biting insects bad? How was zip line and Manuel Antonio area? Will post about trip after return with pictures.

Traveltheworld: totally agree as our tours with G1 have all been nice (even though we've had packed busses on a couple of them). Well organized and the tour guides have been topnotched or close to it (our guide on the Baltic tour was ok though he got a little exasperated with a couple of our fellow travelers who were not as mobile and needed extra time getting around).
We recently returned from a do it yourself trip to the Rhine River valley and saw a lot of river boats. While we were hiking and visiting several of the castles, the boats were floating on up the river missing out on a lot of good stuff to see and do. We did run across a group from a Viking River Cruise ship at one of the places (Marksburg Castle) and while they had their own private tour, they all seemed a little hurried.
So while it's been on my bucket list to do one, it's no longer as for the money, I'd rather hang out and actually see and do more than just watching it all go by from a floating hotel room. And in the end, what I'd pay for a single river cruise, I can do two trips easily. Just my humble opinion and I know many who love them so I'm happy for them as well.

Hello travelers! We plan in August to go on a trip to USA. And as always, it does not do without "but". We assume that huddling in the 5th in one car may not be comfortable and along the way we will use the rental of an additional car. I studied the forums and faced a situation where people had problems with renting a car in USA. As far as is known, some companies are denied a lease with a Russian-style driver's license for the lack of information about the driver in case of a state of emergency. I rummaged through the Internet, I found quite a lot of offers of services for the "translation of a driver's license or an issue of international standard." I would like to clarify this issue in more detail. At the moment, the choice fell on the company https://iaalicense.com - I would like to know, maybe someone used their services? Or owns in more detail in general this issue? The price tag is not great, for safety I will turn to them, I will write by the results, but I would also like to hear experienced travelers. What do you think?
