I was re-booked by Gate 1 to the October 21st date. I was originally scheduled for the October 7th date.

Looking forward to my 3rd Gate 1 adventure.:-)

Expect to meet another great group of fellow travelers from
around the world.

I've booked the Bogota optional excursion, Monserrate Funicular Train Ride.

There are no Gate 1 excursions shown for Day 4, Cartegena.

I printed the Viator, Hop on- Hop off bus route. I will be doing that on Monday, October 24th.

Kevin

The old city in Cartagena and is really picturesque and very nice. You can easily walk it. I did not see the hop on hop off bus. Is that for the modern city? Beware of pickpockets there. They are rampant in the old city.

The Hop on Hop off is thru a company named Viator. I've used them before.

Thanks for the tip. I wear a zippered travel vest that has pockets only the front!

Many thanks and happy traveling! I'm looking forward to this next adventure. :-)

Our visit there was short, and off of a cruise ship. Wish we had been able to stay and see more. That is why land tours are better- much more comprehensive than from a ship. Both are fun, but we prefer and do many more tours than cruises.

The lady From our walking tour got robbed before we even got through the Gate of the cruise dock. We had been warned about pickpockets, but that was pretty ridiculous!

Yes, the cruise tours are very brief compared to land-based tours.

I'm very careful with my personal security during my travels.

I make sure all pockets are zippered and in some cases, a light jacket over my vest. I refuse to be a victim of pick-pocket artists.

A robbery would destroy a vacation.

Thanks for the warning. Sometimes we need a reality check. We often forget that the thieving scum are working while we are on vacation. There's a special place in HELL for thieves. :-)

Sounds like you are vigilant traveler - you will be fine.

I carry some cash, my ATM card, and one credit card in a money belt under my shirt -pretty theft proof I think.

A friend while in Rome carried all his cash, credit cards, AND his passport loosely in his back pocket. It was all pickpocketed on a train there. The aftermath was not inexpensive or very pretty. Lesson learned, hopefully.

That was terrible!
Aonther security method I use is to wear "Fishing pants" from Academy Sporting Goods.
The pockets are on the front of the pants only.
So, I wear the travel vest with pockets on the front, and pants with pockets on the front.
I never have any pockets on the back of my clothing.
Any potential thief studying me from a distance will soon realize that I have no back pockets!
There's no way that I'm going to ruin my trip with a theft.
Before i leave the hotel room, I look at myself in the mirrow and double-check my outfit. :-)

We have ScottiVests we carry all the important stuff - camera, passports and other travel docs, keys, prescription meds, money, cell phones, and anything else valuable or critical. We put on at home airport and unload it at first destination hotel. These vests are very secure - theft proof in my opinion. You can put a lot of weight in one that does not count as carry-on weight if that is ever an issue.

I love my travel vest. I can pat my front pockets and know that everything's in front of me and know my valuables are still there.

I wouldn't travel without it. :-)

I am contemplating the 11 Day Colombia tour in late October. Must make up my mind soon. Has anyone taken this tour and can report on it? Thanks.
